WSR The Exmoor Explorer - 19 May 2004

Wessex Trains To celebrate the 50th anniversary of Exmoor National Park, Wessex Trains unveiled the latest addition to its fleet of trains: a specially refurbished train decorated to promote the park on its travels across the South West. On 19 May 2004, at a special ceremony at Minehead station on the West Somerset Railway, Wessex Trains Commercial Director Jeremy Whitaker joined Steven Pugsley, Chairman of Exmoor National Park and Chris Austin, Chairman of the West Somerset Railway and other local dignitaries to officially launch the "Exmoor Explorer". The Class 158 two-carriage train has been externally repainted and bright pictorial images depicting the National Park have been applied to the carriage sides along with images of the West Somerset Railway.
