It is a prime candidate for future productions especially as the line has now matured into one of the leading heritage railways in the country, with a great period feel, with plenty of shiny, brassy Great Western locos and ten wonderfully restored time-warp stations...

The Flockton Flyer
(Southern Television 1977)
GWR 0-6-0PT no 6412 becomes the Flockton Flyer in this childrens TV series in which some children fight to save the line from closure.
Some mothers do 'ave 'em
(BBC 1977)
Minehead becomes a through station as Michael Crawford and his political chums greet their prospective MP off the train. But as ever not all goes to plan. Hymek D7017 and several WSR volunteers make it to the small screen.
Shoestring
(BBC 1979-80)
Several episodes of the series featuring Trevor Eve as a private detective were filmed on the Railway. Williton, Stogumber and Bishops Lydeard feature. More...
The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe
(BBC 1987)
Crowcombe stars as the children make their way to the country to start their adventure. No 3205 features.
Miss Marple
(ITV 1990)
Bishops Lydeard takes a time warp and forms the backdrop for one of the episodes. No 4561 features.
House of Elliott
(BBC 1991)
GWR 0-6-0 no 3205 has "SOUTHERN" in sunshine yellow emblazoned on its tender, and stands at London Victoria (Minehead) with a boat train to Dover...

A Hard Days Night

The "train" sequence was shot on the line and features Crowcombe station as a backdrop, and where The Beatles sat on one of the platform seats (but which one?!). Lots more...

Crowcombe Heathfield again, with two scenes showing GWR no 4561 in the first, and GWR no 6412 in the second.
