Catch the first train from Bishops Lydeard to Dunster for a super magical day at the picture postcard village of Dunster.
The village lies about one mile from Dunster Station along a country lane and quiet roads. The main road is traversed by footpath and underpass. There are no steps.
Consider taking the Dunster Castle Express which runs on Wednesdays and Saturdays from 4 April to 3 November 2012. The inclusive package includes the return train ride from Bishops Lydeard to Dunster and a courtesy bus ride to the Station to Dunster Castle and back in time for the 4.12pm back to Bishops Lydeard. Lots of shops, cafes and sights to see - including the impressive Castle overlooking the ancient village street with its Yarn Market building.
Plenty of time to relax, shop or visit the Castle and its superb gardens.
Keep an eye on the time as on some days in early spring and autumn the last train leaves Dunster just after 4 o'clock.
For most of the summer however there is plenty of time to enjoy the beach or the town before catching the last train - be on the platform just after half past five.
·Try this idea for a day out in 2012...
·Arrive just after 10 o'clock at Bishops Lydeard Station and get tickets to Dunster.
·Catch the 10.25pm train from Bishops Lydeard Station.
·Have a coffee from the on-train buffet as the train wends its way through the hills and along the coast
·Leave the train at Dunster Station and take a leisurely stroll to the village.
·Enjoy the magic of Dunster as you enter the main street.
·Time a-plenty to shop, visit the Castle and its gardens, have lunch...
·Some daysbe back at the station at Dunster just after 4 o'clock before catching the 4.05pm train straight back to Bishops Lydeard.
·Most summer days the chance to maybe spend more time at Dunster then be back at Dunster Station by 5.30pm to catch the last train to Bishops Lydeard...
