A new event for 2007...

|
The Somerset in Autumn event introduced for the first time this year will feature an intensive timetable, with services over the whole 23 mile line, worked by a host of steam and heritage diesel locomotives through the beautiful autumn colours of the West Somerset countryside. There will be plenty for both the family and serious railway enthusiast to enjoy. Variety is definitely the key, so come along and see just what is on offer...

A comprehensive timetable of trains will be in operation on both days of the Gala.
Our very popular Great Western auto train this time featuring two trailers, nos 178 & 225, hauled by 0-4-2T no 1450 will be in action on both days, including a number of services limited accommodation and no buffet or toilet facilities on the auto train.

The Southern Local Passenger Train...
| |
| |
|
On the Thursday and Friday, LB&SCR Terrier 0-6-0T no 662 Martello will be working a number of shuttle trains marked "SLP" in the timetable between Minehead and Blue Anchor.
Buffet and bar facilities will be available on most train services during the weekend, serving a range of hot and cold food (many with a local flavour), tea & coffee and a range of other alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks.

| Washford
| Come and see recent developments at the Somerset & Dorset Railway Trust site and museum, which will be open throughout the Gala. Peckett 0-4-0ST Kilmersdon may also be in steam around the yard at Washford (small separate admission charge).
| | Gauge Museum
| Whilst at Bishops Lydeard, come and see the many exhibits and displays of railway interest inside the refurbished Gauge Museum on Platform 1. The Great Western Railway 1897-built sleeping car No 9038 will be on display, and there will be lots to see and do to maintain your interest while you wait for your train!
| | Blue Anchor Railway Museum
| This excellent little museum, run by the West Somerset Steam Railway Trust will be open on both days.
| | Model Railway
| : The Taunton Model Railway Groups base on platform 1 at Bishops Lydeard which includes the excellent model of Bath Green Park station will also be open on both days (small separate admission charge).
| | Williton
| The Diesel Heritage Centre will be open (but please note that, on this occasion, the rest of the yard area will NOT be open).
| | Minehead
| The Reader's Halt Bookstall, run by the Friends of Minehead Station, will be open on the platform.

Free bus service to and from Taunton...
| |
| |
|
A special free bus service linking Taunton Railway Station, the Park and Ride car park at Silk Mill and Bishops Lydeard station will run every 30 minutes on both days. The service will start from 9.30am from Taunton Station each day, with the last bus connecting with the final train arrival at Bishops Lydeard.

Car Parking...

| |
Free car parking will be available at Bishops Lydeard Station, but please arrive at least thirty minutes before the departure of the train on which you initially wish to travel.

Saturday Evening Train...
| |
| |
On Saturday 27 October a special evening train will run. This will depart at 6.45pm from Minehead, returning at 8.30pm from Bishops Lydeard, stopping at Blue Anchor, Washford, Watchet and Williton in both directions to pick up/set down as required, as shown in the timetable. The train will be hauled by the Stanier Mogul no 42968 (subject to availability). Travel on this train is free to holders of a Saturday or Weekend Rover Ticket. Non-Rover Ticket holders can travel at special event fares. A bar and buffet will be available throughout the journey. In addition, there will be the option of enjoying a Fish & Chip Supper at a cost of £7 per person, served on the outward journey, though this must be booked in advance by 22 October. Come along and enjoy a great evening out

Please note that all privilege ticket, free pass and voucher facilities will not apply at the Somerset in Autumn event. Ordinary fares apply to all passengers.
Discounts are available on Rover Tickets purchased in advance.
The best way to enjoy the event to full is to purchase a Rover Ticket which gives you complete freedom to travel on the line for the validity of the ticket.
