PLEASE NOTE. The Rally is held on fields adjacent to Bishops Lydeard Station. The fields have become very waterlogged due to the recent heavy rain. Therefore the WSRA have, with great disappointment, decided to CANCEL this years event. The WSRA extends apologies to everyone looking forward to the Rally.

In a letter to exhibitors, supporters and volunteers, the WSRA Chairman, Humphrey Davies writes "It is with considerable regret that this year’s Steam Fayre & Vintage Vehicle Rally has had to be cancelled owing to the land being completely waterlogged. This decision has been taken with great reluctance. All those who have paid any money in advance, for whatever purpose, will be refunded as soon as possible. This includes any money sent for the Severn Coast Express train. It will be appreciated that with around 1000 people to be contacted, it may take a little time for everyone to receive refunds but these will be processed as soon as we are able. We ask that people will bear with us on this. This is the first time this has happened in the history of the Rally. We sincerely hope you will support us for next year’s Rally and we shall look forward to seeing you there. We will keep your name on file and send you 2008 entry forms when available."

Once again the West Somerset Railway station at Bishops Lydeard will echo to the sight, sound and smell of many mighty steam engines as they gather for what will be our 21st Rally.
A glittering array of superb machinery will be in action alongside our restored country station on Britain’s longest heritage railway, and 2007 looks like beating all records with some of the country’s finest examples of vintage transport on display. To celebrate the events coming of age, a number of special and additional events and attractions are planned for this year.
Gleaming engines, powerful steam engines, tractors and road rollers, elegant vintage cars and motorcycles, superb fire engines, buses, commercial and military vehicles will all be put through their paces in the arena to thrill the crowds. Horse drawn exhibits make a return visit to the event
Bishops Lydeard Steam Fayre & Vintage Vehicle Rally is well known for its unique location, friendly atmosphere and good value for money. Backing up the transport exhibits will be displays, stalls, trade stands, children’s entertainments and ample refreshment facilities.
So, book the dates now and bring the whole family along to enjoy a fabulous day out – with so much to see there really is something for everyone.
The event is organised by the West Somerset Railway Association.

• The Severn Coast Express

• In addition to the services above, a special train – "The Severn Coast Express" – will run in connection with the Rally on the Saturday evening. Enjoy the superb 20-mile scenic journey through the Quantock Hills and along the coast of Blue Anchor Bay. The train is very popular, and advance booking is strongly recommended. There will be plenty of refreshment and catering outlets around the rally site, in addition to a Real Ale Bar.

In addition, buffet and bar facilities will be available on all WSR train services during the weekend, serving a range of hot and cold food, tea & coffee and a range of other alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks.

• Connecting Classic Bus Service...

| |
|
A fleet of impressive classic buses will run from Castle Green Car Park and the Railway Station at Taunton direct to Bishops Lydeard, starting at 09.30 and running at 20-minute intervals.
