The original WSR discussion group
The first WSR list run by www.wsr.org.uk was created on 17 November 1999 and was hosted by the excellent OneList, who were taken over by eGroups, who, in turn were gobbled up by the mighty Yahoo! group.
The latter imposed some unwelcome restrictions and conditions and the group was moved to Topica after a search for a more friendly host.
Topica had their problems and seem to lose members details quite frequently, so once again a move was necessary.
The search for the perfect host resulted in - yes - a move back to Yahoo! which had latterly improved their conditions.
Change of management
After nearly eleven years the Group, which now had 315 members, changed hands in October 2010, and was looked after by Steve Sagrott and Steve Richardson both WSR volunteers and supporters. Thanks to the "Steves" for taking over the Group which became independent of wsr.org.uk
Demise and rebirth
Then came closure. Following a review the moderators felt it necessary to close the Yahoo group, the closure was effected on 3 February 2012 bring to an end some twelve years of lively discussion albeit in diiferent "homes". Many thanks to the moderators Steve Sagrott and Steve Richardson for their hard work in maintaining the group.
However not all was lost. A new Yahoo discussion group has emerged. Created on 1 February 2012 by moderators Robin White and Paul French, both long time WSR supporters and volunteers, the new group - WSR-Unofficial-Forum - promises to continue the online platform and allow the discussion to continue. Thanks Robin and Paul for stepping forward.
