Crowcombe Heathfield

 • A Special Train and Special Event on 20 June 2008...
Summer is coming so what better way of celebrating the longest days but with an evening on a heritage diesel train on the West Somerset Railway. Enjoy the Somerset countryside, see some of the developments at the southern end of the line, and then enjoy the celebrations at Crowcombe Heathfield Station, including a champagne toast and picnic supper at this picturesque station.
There will be a bar on the train at which you will be able to purchase beer, lager, wines and soft drinks throughout the evening.
At Crowcombe Heathfield Station Lady Elizabeth Gass, HM Lord Lieutenant of Somerset, the great, great granddaughter of Sir Peregrine Fuller Palmer Acland Bt (the first Chairman of the West Somerset Railway) will officially reopen the Refurbished Kitchen and Waiting Room, the ceremony followd by a Champagne Toast.
There is a choice of either Pork and Bramley Pie or Turkey and Cranberry Pie or Cheese and Sauteed Onion Quiche (vegetarian). These will be served with a salad and dinner roll. Afterwards a selection of deserts will be available. A dietary requirement not met by the above choice can be arranged if made known at time of booking.
During the winter the Group have spent around £13000 on the complete refurbishment of the kitchen and major building work to the waiting room - there is still more to do, but the kitty is empty. The profit from the Mid Summer Madness evening will go towards further refurbishment work.
