Enjoy the pleasures of a steam train ride through the Somerset countryside and a visit to the Gardens at Hestercombe. The Gardens are a unique combination of three period gardens, the Georgian Landscape, Victorian terrace and the Edwardian formal garden. All of these have been lovingly restored over recent years having lain abandoned for many years.
Every Wednesday from 27 May going on to 30 September inclusive a through ticket from all Stations on the West Somerset Railway to Hestercombe Gardens near Taunton will be available. The ticket includes travel on the West Somerset Railway, the connecting bus service and entry to the Gardens. The connecting bus picks up from Bishops Lydeard Station, and later on, leaves Hestercombe House for the short run back to Bishops Lydeard Station in good time for the train back along the Minehead Branch.
Passengers will join the 10.15 departure from Minehead every Wednesday from 27 May going on to 30 September inclusive or at any of our stations where that train calls. The return train arrives back at Minehead just before half-past five in the afternoon.
The combined fare has been kept at the 2008 prices:
| · £16.00 for each Adult and £5 for each Child if travelling from Minehead, Dunster or Blue Anchor,
| | · £13.00 for each Adult and £3.50 for each Child travelling from Washford, Watchet, Doniford or Williton
| | · £11.00 for each Adult and £2.50 for each Child travelling from Stogumber and Crowcombe Heathfield
| | · £6.00 for each Adult and each Child free from Bishops Lydeard
|
For this, travellers from Minehead for example get train travel worth at least £14.00, entry to Hestercombe Gardens worth £7.90 and the bus transport.
