The Harry Horn Memorial

The great man himself A splendid memorial to Harry Horn, Station Master of Stogumber Station, who died in 2000, has been erected at the Station by Mike Farahar and Tom Turner. The picnic table and bench is a very practical addition to the facilities - Stogumber Station is a popular place for picnics - and Harry would approve of such a useful memorial.

I make no excuses for repeating these words which I wrote upon hearing of Harry's passing. "Harry was always there at Stogumber. Always pleased to see you, and always keen to enquire about the family, especially young Matthew. A true gentleman, consistently courteous, smiling and honest, and would never have a bad word to say about anyone. A true angel on earth. Harry gone? Maybe, but he will still be there at Stogumber, in the trees and flowers, across the grassy lawn, and always, there on the flagstones outside the station building... "
