The very popular Great Western Auto Train - featuring the superbly restored trailer no 178 hauled by GWR 0-6-0PT no 6412 - will work all the services shown as "Auto" in the timetables on this website. Please note the Auto Train has no buffet or touilet facilities.

Diesel Multiple Unit services will run between Bishops Lydeard and Norton Fitzwarren on both days giving another chance to see the little-used section of the WSR. The round trip takes 20-25 minutes. It is not possible to board and alight at Norton Fitzwarren.
Museums open at Bishops Lydeard, Washford and Blue Anchor.

On both days, there is a frequent First Bus service between Taunton and Bishops Lydeard Station - service 28A on Saturday and service 928 on Sunday. WSR tickets are not valid on these services except return tickets to Taunton issued by Booking Offices at Minehead, Dunster, Blue Anchor, Watchet and Williton. Full timetable details are available from First Bus on 01823 272033.
Free parking will be available at Bishops Lydeard - please arrive at least 30 minutes before the departure of the train you wish to catch!
Tickets are available during the event, but why not take advantage of our advance booking discount - try booking now! Having your tickets early means no need to queue on the day!
Please note that all privilege ticket, free pass and voucher facilities will not apply at the Grand Trains Extravaganza. Ordinary fares apply to all passengers. Discounts are available on Rover Tickets purchased in advance - see below for link to booking form.
The best way to enjoy the Grand Trains Extravaganza is to purchase a Rover Ticket - which gives complete freedom to travel on the line for the validity of the ticket.

Event Lineside Photo Permit
Access to the majority of our trains is possible for passengers bringing wheelchairs - please ask the Guard of your train to lower the ramp. Unfortunately, the Auto train is not accessible for passengers who are confined to their wheelchairs. Dogs may travel at a quarter of the adult fare but are not allowed in the dining or buffet areas of the train.
