There are four types of courses on offer in 2002. The Taster, which gives, as the name suggests, a taste of the footplate experience. For wider and longer footplate experiences, there are three staged courses, where participants start with the two day standard Stage One course, and may move on to Stages Two and Three.
These are the standard two-day courses where participants learn the basics of railway operation and how to drive a locomotive between Minehead and Blue Anchor. Stage One costs £240 per person.
For those who have completed Stage One and includes a supervised driving and firing turn between Minehead and Williton. The dates for the one-day Stage Two courses are 15,18,19,20 March 2002. Autumn dates yet to be announced. Stage Two costs £195 per person.
This is for those who have completed Stages One and Two and includes a supervised driving and firing turn between Bishops Lydeard and Williton - including the infamous Crowcombe Bank. The dates for the one-day Stage Three courses are 3,10,20,24,27 May 2002. Autumn dates yet to be announced. Stage Three costs £195 per person.
The chance to ride the footplate and try the controls. The Taster Courses are held on alternate Saturdays, 30 March, 13,27 April, 18 May, 1,15,22 June, 6,20 July, 14 29 Spetember and 12 October 2002. The Taster Course costs £132 per person.
