 FOMS Day Out - 22 January 2003

On 22 January 2003, the Friends of Minehead Station (FOMS) working party delivered the rebuilt Platform Barrow to Blue Anchor, using the Class 03, a flat wagon and a brake van. At Blue Anchor the train was remarshalled into the same formation for the return journey while FOMS Works Manager Gordon Harris officially handed over the Barrow to Stationmaster Peter Treharne. After tea and biscuits in the signalbox, OpsSup Steve Martin and DepOpsSup Pat Langan took the opportunity on Ker Moor to set off a considerable number of detonators which had passed their use-by date. This was delayed somewhat by the presence of the Hunt in an adjacent field but in due course the 03 proceeded over the detonators creating a mini World War 3 complete with flashes and smoke. Minehead Police had been warned in advance. Return to Minehead was in time for lunch. All pictures taken by Alan Grieve, our intrepid FOMS Chairman who, as usual, took his camera along...
