Diesel Weekend

Train times are now on the InterActive Timetable

15 and 16 May 1999

33048 at Williton in 1997

Planned appearances by "home" diesel locomotives including:

The West Somerset Railway's Diesel Running Weekend over the weekend of May 15th and 16th will feature five of the Williton based "main line" fleet working trains over the 20 mile line. There will also be one steam diagram, doing two round trips on each of the two days.

The Williton locos in action will be the two Class 50's "Defiance" and "Royal Oak", plus D1010 "Western Campaigner", Class 25 D7523 and "Crompton" 33048.

The timetable for the event is being finalised with an intensive service planned.

With no costs being incurred for the event by way of movement charges to and from the Railway by bringing in visiting engines the WSR is pegging the cost of Rover Tickets for the weekend to its normal rates of £9.50 for a Day Rover (Seniors £8.00 and Children 5 to 15 £4.75) and £18.00 for a Two Day Rover (Adults and Seniors, £9.00 Children). At these rates the WSR feels that for the traction fan the two days in May can be regarded as a bargain. Rovers can be purchased on the day or in advance from the Commercial Department, The Railway Station, Minehead, TA24 5BG or by credit card by ringing 01643 704996 (last date for advance booking is Tuesday May 11th). Locomotive diagrams will be available in the week leading-up to the event for £1.50.
